You only get to see lightning when it becomes supercharged in the sky and breaks out into a bolt of lightning and tries to make it's way to earth. However Lightning or rather the energy that makes up lightning is always there, why don't we use it ? Is oil really that important, is it that people just don't care, Solar and wind both looked good until we learnt that it cost more in energy to make a solar panel or wind turbine than these devices gave out in their lifetime. That is; if it cost me 10 units of energy to make solar panel and I only get 8 units of energy from the solar panel before it's life is over, it's ability to produce energy is at an end, then I have to use fossil fuels to make up the gap.
